Yes, I do think that 1968 helps to define how we view the sixties today. Especially with the Democratic National Convention, it was clear that all the movements and forces in society were culminating and were going to explode. If the Democratic National Convention had never occurred, I do think that we would view the sixties differently, as we would think that while all these different forces in society were present, they never resulted in a big event. Although I think women's rights and equality, etc. would have happened eventually (especially by now), if all the forces had not culminated in 1968, I don't think we would view the sixties as so monumental and vital to the change of society as we do today.
